Response to Truman Show Thursday

Truman's life is in fact a television show that many people enjoy, he however does not realize this. The people making the show stage many things including the death of his father while on a fishing trip. This made Truman terrified of water and left him thinking that his father was actually in fact dead.

Fear is necessary in life but there is a point in life when it comes to a point of it being too much. When fear gets to the point of destroying life that is when it have gone too far. For the television show the people producing it wanted to get the reaction from different set occurrences in their life. The faked death of his father being one of them.

In real life that would not happen. Truman really doesn't know what real life is even though he has one that is just filmed and tweaked in every which way. The people making it get reactions out of him that make it funny because of his fear, because of his reactions. Life is full of cause and effect and this "show" proves it.

  1. But I think the point, as I directed you before leaving you to watch the film, is to see yourself as Truman. So, how are we motivated or controlled by fear that others instill in us? Can you give examples? Is there some controller who dials up nightmares to keep us frozen in our tracks?

  2. Maggie,

I think you have a good point in this piece, and you used nice text evidence, or in this case, movie evidence. The only thing I would comment on is the repetition of a few words, you used them a lot and back to back so just watch out for that next time, good job!
