Fire

The single candle was left unattended to for over five minutes. Before anyone knew it the candle fell and the drapes burst into flames. The lovely, flowery drapes were engulfed in flames. A small child walked in from the kitchen and instantly let go of his plate when he glanced up from his mound of spaghetti. When the plate hit the floor it shattered and the spaghetti flew everywhere. Tears flooded into the little boys eyes as he fell to the floor in a panic. His older sister heard the plate smash and ran in to aid her innocent little brother. Once she saw the flames she picked up the small boy and rushed out of their family's apartment. As the siblings tearfully watched the burning building, they never once realized that the two of them were the only survivors. Along with the building went the lives of the many other occupants of the complex including the children's only relatives.
